Corvallis vs Crescent Valley Girls Basketball

Tuesday night, February 25, 2025, Crescent Valley High School was the site for this round of the Corvallis City Rivalry Game.  Corvallis Spartans came in to take on the Crescent Valley Raiders.

Like most rivalry games, energy in the gym was high and you could tell this one was big deal to everyone involved.  Corvallis won the first matchup of the season between these two teams, 40-29, and were looking to keep their strong season rolling.  But the Raiders had another outcome on their minds.

Although the first quarter was close, at 8-5, the Raiders had opened up an 11-point lead (22-11) by the half.  The Spartans were suffering from some weak shooting from the field as they shot a combined (2P/3P) 4 for 31 from the field.

Corvallis made some changes at half time and came out with a bit of energy in the third quarter and cut the lead to four, 26-30.  But in the end the Raiders held on to take the 41-36 win.

Emma Yenchik (#1, Junior, F), seen below had 11 points while Josie Mansfield (#15, Sophomore, G), seen above and Emily Taunisila (#24, Junior, G), seen above both had 8 points for the Raiders, while Nalia Wagar (#1, Senior, G), seen above scored 12 for the Spartans.

Both teams are looking to make the playoffs, and could possibly see a first round matchup.
